Fukugi trees were planted as windbreaks in order to protect the house and villages from the north wind and typhoons because Imadomari Village is close to the sea. and It remains as Fukugi trees even now.
In addition, many old-fashioned houses remain, forming a tasteful townscape.
It was selected as a national important cultural landscape in 2019.
