"The mangrove forests of Gesashi Bay are the largest in area on Okinawa Main Island. Three of the four mangrove species found on the Main Island can be seen here. In particular, this area is the northern limit of the loop-root mangrove. This area has been designated as a natural monument of Japan.
Adjoins the Higashimura Fureai Hirugi Park, which draws about 100,000 tourists a year with its wooden walkways and observation decks."
