The Katsuren Peninsula (Yokatsu Peninsula) on the east coast of the central part of the main island of Okinawa is composed of several islands such as Ikei Island, Miyagi Island, Henza Island, and Hamahiga Island.
Ikei Island is a remote island located north of the Katsuren Peninsula (Yokatsu Peninsula).
It is a small island with a population of about 230 people.
On Ikei Island is time flows slowly and quietly, there are houses with tiles and cement roof tiles, and you can feel old Okinawa'n caulture such as stone walls and windbreak forests of Fukugi trees.
Also, from a road between fields, you can shoot a long straight road and the sea.
In 2022, the Ikei Island Charter was enacted, and residents and visitors are making efforts to preserve the island's culture and scenery.
